We're a Perth team of 3 working on our first-ever game! Our team is comprised of one coder and two artists!
I'm Dominic, the Tech and Testing lead for our team, and have been mainly doing the unity/coding work for this project!
Outside of making and playing games I have started taking photos, especially of pockets of bush-land in the middle of the suburbs of Perth. My favorite game of all time is Minecraft, which is probably what inspired me to start making things! Recently I have been playing the 2D Zelda games to help me generate ideas for this game.
Minish Cap was actually the game that inspired me to pitch this game in the first place. I was down in Denmark, Western Australia, coming up with ideas to pitch when I saw a skink run across some limestone blocks in a backyard and started to wonder what kind of adventures they were going on. It was from this that I pitched a 2D Zelda like with a skink as it's protagonist!
I am really proud of the work the team has done so far and what we are planning for the future, and I hope you all enjoy the game when its available!
I'm Megan! I'm working as the Producer and Marketing Lead for our project. Whilst I'm working as the Producer, I didn't actually pitch this game concept; the original idea stemmed from Dom! I've mainly been working as a 2D artist! I've been working alongside our Art lead, Chip, in developing the 2D pixel-art, including animations such as the Skink's block/ attack/ dodge-roll, our robot enemies and some larvae animations.
When I'm not developing assets, I'm usually working on personal digital illustration projects or playing games! I tend to lean into Action-Role-Playing Games (ARPGs), Action-Adventure Games (AAGs) and First-Person-Shooter (FPS) games, and when asked what my favourite game is, I'll never be able to give a solid answer.
A short list of my favourite games includes: (the entire) Dragon Age franchise, Mass Effect, The Last of Us, Red Dead Redemption, Baldur's Gate 3, Titanfall, Overwatch and most recently Marvel Rivals.
I think our team has been doing really well to meet our goals, we all share a vision for how A Skink's Tale will be developed in the near future, and I'm excited to see where we end up!!
